My book description:
Kick-ass heroine, old-fashioned morals and a world of originality. This is just a taste of what's to come from the Bound by Hades series.
The world building was an interesting take on paranormal events and I particularly enjoyed the angels element that was added. I won't go into detail about it, because you should really read the book to find out how it is used.
The hero is a gatekeeper that keeps the demons from escaping to hell and landing on earth. The gatekeepers were also an interesting twist and something fresh, which is always tough with paranormal elements. While the heroine is a fast-tracking college student. This was a unique combination for couples, although the heroine is more than just a regular college student.
The characters are interesting. I especially loved the kick ass heroine, Sadie Nowland that has a black belt and can hold her own in any fight - even when a demon is trying to take her down. Her sidekick best friend is also a nice addition. She is an orphan that has some abandonment issues. With the heroine being so kick ass, the hero Theo Bradford, is a little softer except when his woman is being threatened, then he morphs into a nightmare. In my opinion, Theo is a little too soft to be an alpha, but he is still appealing with his only desire to care for Sadie. I loved his brother, Justin, who I can totally see being the next spinoff character to get his book (at least I hope so).
The only thing that I really wasn't sold on with the whole virginity factor - both were virgins. Sadie is barely nineteen and grew up in a series of foster homes, so that I could buy, but Theo is hundreds of years old and was waiting for his mate, which was a little harder to believe. I also thought that the quickie wedding was a little on the unbelievable side. It was sweet, but not believable.
The overall plot is unique and interesting. It has a lot of twists and turns and a good amount of conflict that carries right to the end of the book. The conflict builds from the very beginning with the battle to destroy a super tough demon, Aggie that is trying to kill Theo and Sadie.
It is well-paced and is a really fast, easy read. The pages just fly by and before you know it, you've reached the end. I read it in three sittings and found myself wanting to go back for more. The ending is predictable, but at the same time enjoyable.
I am looking forward to reading Book Two in the series. While there were some slight negatives, there were more positives so I am a fan. And I love kick ass heroines and sexy gatekeepers!
I would give this book three and a half stars. The writing is solid, I loved the characters and the plot was laced with conflict. The virgin heroine/hero and the quickie wedding were drawbacks.

Book Description:
He’s waited more than 900 years to love her…
Being the Gatekeeper to Hades is no small feat, and waiting almost a millennia to meet your mate is damn near impossible. But Theo Bradford’s mark has finally surfaced on his intended. Now all he has to do is find her and convince her to embrace her supernatural heritage.
Young genius, Sadie Nowland, has got life figured out. Graduating college at the age of eighteen and accepting a six-figure job is just what she needs to prove she’s made something of herself. But when a strange tattoo mysteriously appears on her shoulder and Theo starts talking about Mates, it catapults her neatly laid out life into chaos.
Targeted by a vicious demon escaped from Hades, Sadie is thrust into the volatile world of Shomrei warriors and a connection to Theo her brain can’t comprehend and her body can’t deny. That primal bond proves more imperative to their survival than either could have ever imagined—and just may be the key to the world’s survival.
